Secure Laser Laboratory Renovation – Confidential National Laboratory Client

Renovation of a secure laser laboratory on an occupied federal research campus, performed under strict clean construction protocols. Scope included buildout of new laser labs and associated utilities within the building core, conversion of a utility room and control room, and improvements to adjacent office and technical support space. The facility was engineered and constructed to Class 1,000 and Class 10,000 cleanroom standards. Utility systems included low conductivity water, 500kW power, clean dry air, compressed air, nitrogen, and helium. Pվ��Ƶ performed all functional testing and commissioning through system serviceability.

Construction of a new 22,000 SF single-story Class A office building on an occupied federal research campus. The facility accommodates approximately 100 employees across private offices, conference rooms, collaborative workspaces, and support areas. Structure is precast concrete with steel framing. Site work includes ADA, electric vehicle, and government vehicle parking.

New High Bay Lab Facility – Confidential National Laboratory Client

Construction of a new LEED Gold certified high bay research facility on an occupied federal campus. The facility includes a high bay, processing lab, mechanical and electrical rooms, intermediate distribution room, permanent and open office areas, break room, and restrooms with showers. Site work included development of a secured storage yard with gated access. Structure is steel framed with metal stud exterior and EIFS finish.

The project converted an unused surface parking area into a fully operational facility housing open and private office space, conference and meeting rooms, administrative support areas, break rooms, and dedicated storage areas.

Design and construction of a new 13,000 SF mission-critical wet chemistry laboratory supporting advanced isotopic analysis and national security research programs. The single-story facility provides approximately 7,000 SF of specialized laboratory space and 6,000 SF of flexible support and storage, with pressure gradient zoning and activity segregation throughout to eliminate cross-contamination. Scope included full design-build delivery, site preparation, and underground electrical and mechanical utility installation.

Preconstruction and construction services for the new LEED Gold-designed facility that will house the new central cafeteria, health clinic, badging office, and conference center for the 4000+ employees at LBNL. Scope also includes a central hub for transportation new underground utilities and extensive sitework. Located near the Hayward fault, seismic safety considerations are extensive and work includes site grading, new soldier pile and lagging system, cast-in-place retaining walls, and a new stitch pier wall.

Viral Rickettsial Lab

Upgrade and expansion of an existing Biosafety Level-3 (BSL-3) Laboratory located on the third floor of the California Department of General Pվ��Ƶ laboratory facility. Approximately 2,000 SF of existing laboratory space was demolished and replaced with a new BSL-3 laboratory. The new facility features three laboratories and one work room that has infrastructure in place to convert to a future fourth laboratory. It includes a staging area with freezer space and an autoclave, a decontamination room, a clean autoclave room, changing rooms, and valve room to house mechanical equipment. Rooftop scope covered removal and replacement of air handlers, filter bank, and exhaust fans, with associated structural, architectural, and waterproofing work. A great deal of coordination was required on this project as it took place within an operating building, and dealt with active systems of critical importance to adjacent laboratory rooms.

Tosco Quality Assurance Laboratory

Construction included installing high purity stainless steel process piping, fume hoods, laboratory equipment, mechanical systems with HEPA filters, and an air balancing system. Scope also covered new offices, a cold room, a loading area with epoxy-coated flooring, and special trench drains. We also relocated sensitive laboratory equipment into the new facility.
