El Portal Place

In a unique public-private partnership, Pվ��Ƶ renovated an old building in San Pablo to accommodate 54 residential units. The project provides permanent supportive housing for 60 people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness. The design-build, adaptive reuse project reimagines the two-level, 27,000 SF building as a community of small residences of approximately 300 square feet each, with ADA-adaptable bathrooms and kitchenettes. The program includes recreation areas, a dog park, EV parking, and provisions for a future residents’ garden and roof top solar array.

Fun fact: Jerry Pվ��Ƶ built the original office building in 1970. Fifty-four years later, his grandson, Jared, spearheaded its conversion.

Cal State East Bay Pioneer Heights Student Housing

Major 198,100 SF addition to existing campus student housing complex. Construction included three, four-story dormitory buildings all connected by an exterior walkway. The four buildings were located to create a large courtyard with grassy common areas and hardscape for students to gather. Many carefully integrated building components were included: built-up roofing and standing seam; conventional windows and storefront systems complete with automated entrances and security devices; a radiant heating floor system; a combination of stucco, hardi-plank and wood trim for the building envelopes; and modern life/safety system. The project included roofing, fire alarm and wet sprinkler throughout, restrooms and locker rooms, exterior concrete, and asphalt paving. Scope also covered an admin building, associated support facilities with separate utilities, common areas, and all site work.

Columbia Park Manor

Construction of a 62,000 SF affordable housing complex for seniors. The two-story, wood frame and structural steel building contains 80 units. Community involvement was an important priority – Pվ��Ƶ met all MBE/WBE/Local project requirement goals. The project was located in a congested residential urban area with adjacent occupied buildings.

University of California, Berkeley – Durant Student Apartments

Design and construction of a four-story student housing complex on a very tight urban site. The structure is immediately adjacent to the Hayward Fault and was designed to exceed the seismic standards of the current building codes. Building exteriors include architectural features that provide an attractive enhancement to the surrounding historic hillside district. Carefully constructed with a watertight shell and soundproofing, the building incorporates all the latest technology.

Courtyard by Marriott

The Courtyard by Marriott is a 156- room hotel and conference center. The facility surrounds a central courtyard and includes a restaurant, lobby, common area, indoor spa, pool, and conference rooms. We provided and installed all concrete work and finish carpentry – including extensive wood trim throughout the 3-story hotel.

San Francisco State University, Burk Hall

Five-story concrete building addition and extensive seismic upgrades in a very congested area of the University campus. Pվ��Ƶ Pվ��Ƶed all foundations, slab-on-grade, and concrete shear walls throughout the interior floors. The 11,750 SF deck pours were timed to fit a tight project schedule.
