Salinas Valley Health Seismic Compliance Project

Currently in design/preconstruction, this is a fast track collaborative design-build project consisting 3 major components. The first is the seismic upgrade of existing non-structural (NPC-4) components throughout the entire hospital complex. The work requires careful attention to detail and in depth collaboration with the active hospital staff in an occupied facility. This work will include upgrades to medical equipment, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. The second component is to increase the hospitals capabilities to operate standalone from existing city infrastructure and will require the installation of tankage to store, water, sanitary waste and fuel. The final major component is to provide structural upgrades to the existing hospital building to withstand current seismic requirements.

UCSF Benioff Campus Infrastructure Improvements

Major infrastructure upgrades to an occupied hospital campus, including a large scale retention system along highway 24 and utility reconfiguration to make the site ready for UCSF Benioff’s vision for their new Oakland Children’s Hospital Campus. As part of the structural scope, Pվ��Ƶ will install a massive 30′ high by 500′ long retaining system along an active freeway to make room for new campus improvements.

UCSF Benioff Structure Relocation

UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital is growing its Oakland medical campus with the addition of a state-of-the-art medical office building across the street from its main hospital. To clear the path for the new MOB, two existing structures of historical significance must be carefully moved one block away and preserved. The relocated structures will be renovated to serve as hospital offices. Pվ��Ƶ’s scope of work includes selective demolition and relocation of the historic structures and a comprehensive revitalization of the office facilities.

Cancer Support Community Center

The Cancer Support Community San Francisco will be a state-of-the-art campus in Lafayette, CA designed to support nurturing and healing. CSC is dedicated to providing no-cost, comprehensive support to individuals and families affected by cancer. The donated 6-acre parcel of land adjacent to the Lafayette Reservoir will feature outdoor healing spaces, a community garden, walking trails, a children and teens activity center, classrooms, demonstration kitchen, counseling rooms, arts room, movement studio, music room, library, and specialized treatment rooms for acupuncture and massage.

Salinas Valley Health Parking Structure

Salinas Valley Health has roots running back to 1953 when its hospital was first founded to service the Monterey County community. To provide more parking at the campus, Pվ��Ƶ expanded the existing parking garage. The design build project includes four levels of parking above a basement level containing support spaces and loading dock. The cast-in-place concrete extension to the existing parking structure includes 245 stalls within 76,251 SF.

Sutter Delta Emergency Department Remodel

The Sutter Delta Emergency Department included the demolition and remodeling an existing 4,500 sf emergency facility and a 275 sf addition. The emergency facility remained operational throughout construction, requiring extensive scheduling and phasing. Work included interior partitions, finishes, new mechanical and electrical systems replacing air-handling units, fire protection, and plumbing.

Summit Medical Center/Providence Hospital

The Summit Medical Center/Providence Hospital in Oakland involved a wide range of projects including: demolition and remodeling of an existing emergency facility, changing an engineering office into a pre-operation holding area, and changing the fourth floor into a skilled nursing facility. We also transformed an existing wing of the hospital into a new magnetic imaging facility with a nonmagnetic space and computer facility.

Kaiser Oakland Garage #1

3″-6″ thick mat slab foundation for a six-level (two below grade), 531-stall parking structure that Pվ��Ƶ built. We placed 5,339 CY of concrete for the foundation over a 24-hour period. This required 594 deliveries – one every 1.6 minutes with 66 mixer trucks. We Pվ��Ƶed the foundation and placing of all vertical concrete. Adjacent occupied buildings with a limited laydown area.

Kaiser Vallejo Parking Structure

Construction of a 241,750 SF parking structure with 3,500 SF of office space on the ground floor. The four-level facility was built was in operating hospital site – extensive coordination was required to mitigate impacts of construction on the adjacent occupied facilities. We assisted the Owner in making critical design decisions based on construction costs. This included establishing a better site on campus to place the 757-stall garage, which helped save costs and allowed for a faster schedule. Pվ��Ƶ Pվ��Ƶed layout, structural excavation, foundations, slab-on-grade, and vertical concrete placement.

Dignity Health West Sequoia Hospital Loading Docks Renovation OSHPD

Renovation and expansion of the existing loading docks. The OSHPD project involved lowering the grade level at the docks to street elevation to approximately 8 feet. Lifts were added for material deliveries. Scope of work included site work, utilities, landscaping and MEPF. The docks are adjacent to the hospital with ongoing operations. The project was phased to accommodate operations. Also, crews worked after hours for shutdowns and utility tie-ins. Weekend work occurred to accommodate Owner and neighboring community’s schedules. Project was subject to OSHPD and City inspections.
