]]> Preconstruction and construction services for the new Public Safety Complex (PSC) and Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation (AMT) Buildings, which are co-located to allow for shared linkages between programs, classrooms, and training spaces. The PSC features a 2,400 SF, three-story fire training tower, EMS Simulation Lab and Situation Rooms, Fire Training with “Class A” burn areas, and Fire Training Apparatus. The AMT houses an automotive tech facility, welding lab, classrooms and lab spaces. LEED Silver and Award of Merit Winner in the Higher Education/Research category by Engineering News Record (ENR).

]]> Design and construction of the new Center for Liberals Arts at the occupied College of Alameda campus. The 53,000 SF facility features two specialized buildings joined by a central atrium. A two-story administration wing houses conference rooms, offices spaces, seminar rooms, and Dean’s offices. A three-story classroom building houses lecture rooms, apparel design/sewing/arts laboratories, gallery, cafe and flexible learning spaces. A grand two-story atrium ties these buildings together, providing a warm community multipurpose space equipped with audio visual and lighting for art gallery or special exhibit events on campus. Structurally the new building is supported by deep concrete piles and import fill.  Scope also covered site work and utility relocation.

Phase 1 includes demolition of the existing Classroom/Administration Building and the Arts & Crafts/Health Building and construction of the New Classroom/Administration (including Health and Wellness Clinic) and Student Center, as well as site work.

Phase 2 consists of the modernization of existing Library/Book Storage/Faculty Lounge, Science Classrooms, Career Technical Education programs, Gymnasium, and Multi Use Classrooms and Labs, as well as related site work.

Phase 3 includes removal of existing temporary facilities and construction of site improvements including athletic fields, play courts, parking, hardscape, landscaping, and related site work.

]]> This phased, occupied campus project included preconstruction and construction services for the new new 22,700 SF theater complete with stage, 452 seats, drama classroom, green room, restrooms, conference room, and department offices.  The new theater features a large, state-of-the-art auditorium with recessed tiered concrete seating structure, orchestra pits, acoustical paneling, modern A/V system, sound control booth, rigging, curtains, and smoke hatches. Sound-rated acoustical doors and acoustic treatments allow performances in the main auditorium and performances in the smaller drama performance space without sound transfer. Radiant floor heating and cooling utilized. There is a level walk path from the back of the auditorium, through its center, to the stage which provides enhanced accessibility and avoids wheel chair lifts. The building is designed for net zero certification.

Scope also covered a rock climbing wall, fitness rooms, men and women locker rooms, conference rooms, multipurpose room, and lobby. A collegiate level pool complex was also included. The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing as well as the pool was delivered through design-build.
