Lafayette Park Theater Renovation

A community-led renovation of the historic Lafayette Park Theater is underway. Originally opened in 1941, the Art Deco landmark sat vacant for two decades.

In 2019, local residents formed The Park Theater Trust—a 501(c)(3) public benefit organization—to restore the theater and reimagine it as an accessible hub for arts, entertainment, and culture. With a grant from the City of Lafayette and generous support from local businesses and families, construction is now in progress. The project will feature two state-of-the-art theaters operated by CinemaSF, plus a community room, rooftop bar, concessions, and more.

San Pablo Police Headquarters & Training Facility

Design and construction of the new 40,000 SF facility that will serve 59 sworn officers and 31 civilians as well as safety officers from other jurisdictions in comprehensive community safety programs. The Police Headquarters and Regional Training Facility site is integrated within the Civic Center to to support all essential services. The training center includes classrooms, a virtual reality simulator, kennels for service dogs, a fitness room and a drone work area.

Fun fact: Pվ��Ƶ also built the adjacent City Hall and nearby El Portal Place, a permanent supportive housing facility for 60 people in the community.

Elihu Harris State Office Building

Pվ��Ƶ built the foundation for the Elihu Harris State Office Building in downtown Oakland. At the time, it was the largest continuous concrete mat pour in the East Bay. The building spans an entire city block. A team of more than 100 people worked as long as 22 hours continuously to complete the 6,318 cubic yards of mat foundation.

Orinda Library & Auditorium

This steel-framed library has become a celebrated community gathering place based on amenities that include an auditorium with theatrical sound system and state-of-the-art visualization system, coffee shop, convenient underground parking, offices, reading and meeting rooms. The outdoor plaza features a reflective pond, extensive landscaping and a runnel fountain.

Hilltop YMCA Facility

This recreation complex includes a 2-story building with various athletic facilities, including a full-sized basketball court, swimming pool, sauna, and aerobic area, and a separate 4,000 SF building with four racquetball courts.

Richmond City Hall

Design-build renovation and rehabilitation of a 70,000 SF steel-framed city hall and adjacent former police department into a new, seismically upgraded LEED Gold Essential Pվ��Ƶ Facility (ESF). Steel bracing and concrete shear walls were added, new exterior stone cladding was installed; existing historic brick cladding and MEP systems and interiors were restored; existing historic building elements were renovated; and significant building waterproofing and drainage systems were provided. Scope also included a new roof, glass and brickwork, disability access, Life/Safety work in the auditorium, and work on the plaza. Overall Life/Safety upgrades were brought to current standards. Pվ��Ƶ utilized a construction waste management program that diverted 50% to 75% of materials from disposal. The project was located in a congested downtown area with adjacent occupied buildings and additional ongoing construction activity. Major coordination with other contractors and multiple stakeholders was required.

Chevron Corporate Headquarters Relocation

This complicated project consisted of the relocation of Chevron’s Corporate Headquarters (1800 employees) from San Francisco, CA to San Ramon, CA. The work involved coordination and execution of all aspects of the construction work as well as scheduling of all owner Architectural and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) services. Broken into thirty six (36) separate projects within the Chevron accounting system, two buildings in San Francisco were vacated and turned over to new ownership. Five buildings in San Ramon and one building in San Francisco were remodeled (490,000SF), plus extensive site upgrades including Security “hardening”, ADA upgrades, and extensive landscape enhancements were performed. Work ranged from completely redoing the common spaces open to the public, upgrading the internal security system to world-class standards, entire floor remodels, and building standard office space up to custom high-end construction suitable for the corporate offices.

Oakwood Athletic Club

The Oakwood Athletic Club in Lafayette is an award-winning, high-end fitness facility with an outdoor Olympic pool, spa, indoor basketball, squash and racquetball courts, restaurant, and child care facilities. Pվ��Ƶ’s work included a concrete tilt-up building; design build mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and major site work. We also provided extensive preconstruction services for this notable project.

Dougherty Valley Library and Community Center/Police Substation

The project involved construction of two buildings. The wood-framed, one-story library had a central, high-vaulted cedar wood ceiling. The bi-level, 23,000 SF community center/police substation had a large octagonal lecture hall (concrete tilt-up with exposed wood rafters) and stage, as well as a meeting room, child care center, dance studio and crafts room. The tall, open meeting hall consists of a long-span wood frame.

Alameda Civic Center Parking Structure

Design and construction of a six-level, 350 stall parking garage. The new facility features two elevators, two stair towers, and an exterior skin comprised of plaster/metal/concrete/foam shapes/CMU. It is adjacent to a historic theatre built in 1932 that Pվ��Ƶ restored, as well as a new cineplex.
